Tracheoinnominate Artery Fistula After Tracheostomy: A Systematic Literature Review of Associations With Mortality

چکیده
Tracheoinnomate artery fistulas (TIF) are a rare but deadly complication of tracheostomy. This study summarizes TIF cases in the literature and seeks to understand associations with mortality. MEDLINE was searched (up May 2021) for studies reporting individual clinical demographic characteristics patients TIFs after Exclusion criteria were: no tracheostomy tube place at time fistula or additional procedures performed site. accordance Preferred Reporting Items Systematic Reviews Meta-Analyses guidelines. A total 122 from 18 case series 46 reports were included. The median age 40.9 years (range: 4-85, interquartile range: 20.9-60.9 years) 53.3% (64 120) male. Successful Treatment of Tracheoinnominate Artery Fistula Following Tracheostomy in a Patient with Cerebrovascular Disease
Tracheoinnominate artery fistula is a critical complication of tracheostomy. The most important factors influencing patient outcome are prompt diagnosis, immediate control of bleeding with a patent airway, and emergency operation with or without interruption of the innominate artery. Here, we report a case of tracheoinnominate artery fistula in a 40-year-old woman with cerebrovascular accident ...

Tracheoinnominate artery fistula is a rare, fatal complication of tracheostomy, and prompt diagnosis and management are imperative. We report the case of tracheoinnominate artery fistula after tracheostomy in a 14-year-old boy with a history of severe periventricular leukomalacia, hydrocephalus, cerebral palsy, and epilepsy. The tracheoinnominate artery fistula was successfully treated with a s...
متن کاملTracheo-innominate artery fistula after tracheostomy.
F istula formation between the trachea and the innominate artery is a rare complication of tracheostomy (1). The survival rate in patients who develop bleeding from a tracheo-innominate artery fistula (TIF) has been reported as 14.3%, and only patients who received immediate surgical treatment survived (2). Of those patients who develop a TIF, 78% do so within the first 3 wk after tracheostomy ...
متن کاملTracheoesophageal fistula and tracheo-subclavian artery fistula after tracheostomy.
Tracheoesophageal fistula and tracheo-arterial fistula are both uncommon but life-threatening complications after a tracheostomy. The most common source of a major hemorrhage is from the tracheo-innominate artery fistula. Most tracheo-arterial fistulas occur within the first 3 weeks after tracheostomy. We describe a very rare case of a patient who developed both a tracheoesophageal fistula and ...

Iatrogenic injury is an underreported but potentially devastating complication of orthopedic wire migration. We report a 48-year-old man with a tracheoinnominate artery fistula caused by migration of a Kirschner wire that was inserted for fixation of a left clavicle fracture nine years before. Following surgical removal of the wire and repair of both trachea and innominate artery, the patient r...
